Functional Aspects:
Cytokeratin 16 is usually expressed where keratinocytes are undergoing rapid turnover such as in the suprabasal region. It is usually found with cytokeratin 6 and seen in hair follicles, tongue, and epiglottis epithelium and in the sole of the foot. Cytokeratin 16 has also been reported in some pathological states. |
