Matrix Metalloproteinase 9-Lipocalin Complex
Native MMP-9-lipocalin complex from stimulated human neutrophils. Disulfide-bridged complex of MMP-9 and a 25 kDa protein that belongs to the lipocalin family and displays homology with the α2-macroglobulin-related protein from rats. Lipocalin modulates MMP-9 activity by protecting it from degradation. Enzyme should be activated just prior to use. M.W. 130,000 (non-reducing SDS-PAGE). Note 1 mU = 1 milliunit.
