Application & Usage: The antibody can be used for Western blotting (0.5-4 µg/ml), and in Immunohistochemistry (5 µg/ml). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Recombinant human IL-18 can be used as a positive control (Cat. # 4179-25). Blocking peptide (Cat. # 5179BP-50) is also available separately.

Background Descriptions: Interleukin-18 (IL-18), an 18 kDa cytokine, is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 157 amino acids. IL-18 was previously known as interferon-g inducing factor (IGIF). This pleiotropic cytokine is produced by monocyte/macrophage cells. Like IL-12, IL-18 plays an important role in cell-mediated immune responses.
