Citreoviridin A
Description
Citreoviridin A is a neurotoxic mycotoxin from Penicillium toxicarium, Penicilliuj ochrosalmoneum, Aspergullus terreus and many other related fungi. It is believed to be the cause of the acute cardiac Beri-Beri disease. Citreoviridin binds to and inhibit mitochondrial ATPase, thereby uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation.
