Native PKC from rat brain predominantly containing the conventional PKC isoforms, α, β1, β2, and γ. A ubiquitous phospholipid-dependent enzyme involved in signal transduction associated with cell proliferation and differentiation. At least 10 PKC isoforms are reported to exist, which are classified as conventional (α, β, γ), novel (δ, e, η, θ, µ), and atypical (ξ, λ) isoforms. M.W. 76,000-82,000.
