A cell-permeable, potent, and specific inhibitor of leukotriene biosynthesis (IC50 = 102 nM). Prevents the activation of 5-lipoxygenase by binding to 5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP); however, it does not affect 5-lipoxygenase activity in cell-free systems. Exhibits no effect on other pathways of arachidonic acid metabolism, including the cyclooxygenase, 12-lipoxygenase, and 15-lipoxygenase pathways. |
