Functional Aspects:
Cytokeratin 6 is found in hair follicles, suprabasal cells of internal stratified epithelia such as tongue and epiglottis, and in epidermis. It is also found paired with cytokeratin 16 in activated keratinocytes after epidermal injury. Interestingly, cytokeratin 6 has been described in a large percentage of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas. This antibody will help distinguish cytokeratin 6 in these tissue types. |
