Functional Aspects:Complement component C9 (CCC9) is part of the membrane attack complex and binds to the C5b-8 structure that allows a conformational change to occur enabling CCC9 to insert into the cell to form transmembrane channels. In this manner, it acts similarly to perforin. This antibody is particularly useful in identifying regions of recent ischemic myocardial damage in postmortem myocardum.
