Functional Aspects:CD146 has been described in published literature under several names, but is regarded as a marker of melanoma tumor progression and metastasis. It is also found on endothelial and smooth muscle cells and cerebellar cortex and functions as a cell adhesion molecule. CD146 expression on activated T cells and in some cancers is not clearly defined. This antibody will help detect CD146 in tissues and should be useful in further characterizing antigen expression.
