Functional Aspects:Calpain 3 is a muscle-specific calcium-activated neutral protease. Defects in the gene encoding for calpain 3 appear to be the origin of a form of limb-girdle muscular dytrophy. This antibody will help detect the presence or absence of calpain 3 in western blotting and maybe useful in further characterizing calpain 3 expression.
