Functional Aspects: Bone morphogenetic protein 4 (BMP4) is one of nine structurally related BMPs within the transforming growth factor beta superfamily. BMP4 stimulates bone formation in adult mammals and also functions as a signaling molecule in embryonic nervous system, musculature and skeleton. It also seems involved with early tooth morphogenesis, and is expressed in prostate adenocarcinoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia. This antibody will help detect BMP4 in a variety of tissues. |
